THE EXODUS: MOTION TO THE PROMISE LAND: THE SIGNS OF GOD'S HAND ON NIGERIA

By Toyo C. Ngem
This column in the Civics Weekly magazine could be described as an endowment page for political engagement in the reality of religious perspective. The primary objective is to create social awareness on the direction of governance and analysis of the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR). The need for these goes beyond the necessity to focus on the essentiality of his reelection in 2027 as desirable for him to have enough time to consolidate on the achievements he has made and yet unfolding through his divined assignment to re-establish Nigeria in the format of 'African Giant' she ought to be.
As earlier said that the purpose of this segment includes the creation of awareness, the aim of this is to see how we could use this medium to expand opportunity for those people divinely destined to encounter the truth with practical benefiting from the numerously unfolding social and empowerment policies of this administration thus far in two years of this first term.
It must be made known that this page came as a mooted idea from a GMT enthusiast who footed the bill for maiden publication. Any idea given a breath of life ought to preserve its origin as Civics Weekly so value the patency right even if as de jure. Hence the cause for this magazine to retain identity of its origin For all this and for the continuity, we would wish to have interested sponsors -- the true lovers of ABAT's Team-Lead to the Promised Land -- to thank as we bring this page online alongside its retention in the magazine and our prospective coming of The County newspaper. Again, the segment is designed as a practical column for enlightenment of the people in line with their passion for God’s ways of discharging His wonders called ‘miracles’. May the Almighty God guard and guide that men/women to heed this call in whatever could be their endeavours and aspiration up the ladder of their career.
Back to the purpose of being here, this writer would like to go back to the basis to pick the journey of our engagement from there. That is to tell us how God arrived Nigeria about the year 2015 to lay His hands on her for the blessing to set her off to the Promised Land. Not a few Nigerians have now agreed to believe that the country is truly on the move to the “Promise Land”. More so, they are seeing it in clarity that is akin to the biblical Israelites’ “Exodus” from the Egypt. The first edition August 23,2025 edition is what is here published now
Just a couple of weeks back in the first week of July this year, Governor Babajide Sanwolu of Lagos State restated this for fact when he said assertively that “Nigerians will never go back to Egypt”. He made this statement in his perspective view of a body of politicians rising in coalition gang-up against the prospect of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's second term of office. But in his view, the group was only out to “orchestrate distractions” to derail the vision of the President in sailing the country's rebirth ship on the right course to the ordained Promise Land.
He said: “The target is to distract the Commander-in-Chief and derail the social and economic gains that we can see and feel. But President Tinubu knows the game. He is not only a builder of men, but a visionary leader whose impact is evident across the nation. No one should be concerned or distracted by what ADC or any other group is attempting to orchestrate. The truth is clear. The people can see the difference and history is on Tinubu's side. They have nothing but bitterness to offer. They are bound together by their illogical resentment against President Tinubu, not by any edifying ideology. (Thus) they will run out of steam” (parenthesis mine).
The coalition's membership which Mr. President had himself described as a set of “Internally Displaced Politicians (IDPs)”, largely comprises of his defeated oppositions in the 2023 general elections. To the discerning minds and those gifted with the true call to His Vineyard, the 2023 Presidential Election should be deemed as the defining fundamental sign of God's intervention hands on Nigeria for her political salvation.
As Razaq A. Jimoh, a published author and ace journalist holds and readily flaunts for his political belief, he says: “Politics is a social institution ordained by God for the salvation of human soul on Earth while the religion is for the hereafter”. After a deep introspection into this, I could not agree less if one is to face the reality that politics is the means by which God has invested the powers of life and death in a chosen man over his peers. Come to think of it for the empirical, the verity of it should be readable in the life and time of our Lord Jesus Christ. In spite of his depth of spiritual potency and prowess, the Bible makes us to understand that his destiny on earth – as the covenant mission he had with God – was fulfilled solely by acts of politics which orchestrated the course to his fate of death. And, of course, it happened that it was one man vested with the power of life and death that had to affirm his “crucifixion”.
Coming out soon to the vendors' stand with a big bang story. A dua publication in one -- an English publication with a published Yoruba Pull Out. it's a real news medium for real. But in his generous nature, God is in the habit of giving signs of his presence wherever he is set to manifest the mysteries of his touch.
When Sanwoolu said “History is on his (Tinubu's) side”, he could not have meant anything more than the 'difference' of Tinubu's era of Presidency to others' of the past. This is because not only his emergence was replete with signs of God's hands at work in his presidential ambition, the policies of his administration have also proven him to be the 'Chosen One' for the job. I mean the simile of job given to Moses for the mission to lead the Exodus of Israelites out of their oppressions in Egypt. Truly, Nigeria is on 'Exodus' to the Promise Land as designed by God and there are proven signs to see a repeat of the biblical era and experiences of Moses in the contemporary version of Tinubu's transcendence.
The forces of tyrannical establishment Moses had to contend with for the Israelites' freedom were in the shades of characters endowed with the hegemonic authority of the Egyptian monarchy in the visage of King Pharaoh. The starting point of empowerment God had to endow in Moses to confront the behemoth were the manifestation of His signs of presence in Egypt for the Moses' mission. In the Nigerian version of the contemporary Exodus, the equivalent tyrannical establishment Tinubu had to face for the freedom of Nigerians was the age-long but lingering conspiracy of the Nigerian elite in their diverse sectorial spread - in politics, media, academia, and worst of all, the array of blokes in pulpit cassocks for claims of God’s calling in the religious part. But for this last group let's not forget the God's warning through the voice of Christ should be profound about this in Mathew 24: "Watch out for false prophets", Jesus said. They will appear harmless but are inwardly destructive wolves, recognizable by their "fruit".
Of course, God never failed to manifest His coming to Nigeria and, indeed, marked His presence in Nigeria with adequate signs to prove his chosen one in President Tinubu. For the former, the significant signs of His coming should be discernible in the Nigeria's survival of Endsar's anarchy with Tinubu as the target visage of her annihilation. With the likes of Sowore of the SaharaReporters fabricating malicious falsehoods to invoke hatred of the masses for Tinubu and then fugitive Nnamdi Kanu of the Independent People of Biafran State (IPOB) invoking a bounty of ransom for his death and destruction of his property amidst the widespread state of lawlessness, the survival of Tinubu and Nigeria's return back to the state of orderliness were nothing but visible signs of God's coming for His touch on Nigeria.

For the latter, Tinubu's survival of what ought to be the potential consequences of the Muslim-Muslim Ticket (“MMT”) and the Elumeluan currency mopping under circumstantial norms of polling impulse were the fundamental signs God used to manifest his arrival and presence in Nigeria for freedom of the wailing hoi polloi under the merciless oppression of the elite conspiracy. Curiously, majority of the more oppressed do not belong in same geopolitics with Tinubu. They belong in the part of Nigeria holding the hegemonic base of the cultural oppressors – the North and the East – where the heat of oppression appears more pronounced with death of humanity that cheapens human life and make nonsense of human feelings. Further to all this, the God's signs of presence in continuum for perfect finishing of the job with guide and guarding of His Chosen One are also visible right now in course of this administration.
