DAY ALIMOSHO OBAS CONFRONT SENATOR ADEBULE: "BRING DOWN HOME WHAT IS DUE TO ALIMOSHO"

'WE ARE NOT GETTING YOUR FEEDBACK IN ALIMOSHO' -- Onikotun
Story by Razaq Adedeji Jimoh
At the decade edition of the annual Lagos State House of Assembly's Constituency Stakehoders' Meeting for Alimosho Constituency 02 held last week, it was made a day the Council of Obas would come to town to give the report card of performance to their representatives in government. About two publications past, a story of Civics Weekly may be recalled to have reported that the full House of the Council of Obas -- all on the grade of First Class Obas -- graced the occasion. The Onisheri of Isheri, HRM Oba Olasunkanmi Lawal-Bello, who was unavoidably absent, had slso affirmed to this magazine in a latter chat that he was with his colleagues in spirit. The new Onidimu of Idimu, Oba Surakat Noah Olayiwola, whose spiritual rites of coronation would seem yet on course, was ably represented by the emmistry of his Chief of Staff and the Lisa of Idimu Town.
Thus in practical analysis, pundits are wont to conclude that it was one voice of the entire Council of Obas in the Counstituency that made the lone testimonials of Onikotun of Ikotun to the impressive performance of their host, Hon Kehinde Olaide Joseph, member of the State Assembly representing Alimosho Constituency 02. It was also deemed to be the voice of the Obas' submission and demands in line with the primary objective of the stakeholders' meeting.
Whenever he speaks, the eloquence of HRM Oba Asiwaju Gbadabiu of Ikotun Kingdom is never weak in thrusting the gospel truth about the subject of his speech. His vintage at this was to also draw a resounding applause at the event when, by implications, he openly condemned Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule, for being too far from Alimosho Federal Constituency, the largest local government out of the ten making up her Lagos West Senatorial District. He said this in context of his accolades for Hon Joseph and the need for all public officers representing Alimosho to sustain the goal of its fast pace of development.
He said: "Coming to our representatives at the Federal level, our member of the House of Representatives -- is he here? We also want to acknowledge his impressive performance too. We are getting testimonies to this all around -- though it is just a few years into his first term. But just being there newly is not what matters. It is his performance, his good works that matter.
"My advocacy here is that he would also have to join hands with our council chairmen for the three of you to work together with Kehinde Joseph. With the four of you, (Alimosho) Constituency 02 will get the anticipated development we are talking about.
"It is good we are giving this task to them before you -- Prince Bisi Yusuf and all you (party) executives controlling Alimosho. If it is good, it is all to your credit for good record. And if it is otherwise, it is equally about you as well. We the royal fathers cannot see something and refuse to say something because we are the closest to the people in government hierarchy. Even if we do not talk, the people will ask us...
"As we are telling you this, we would like you (Bisi Yusuf) to help us call on our Senator, Adebule, if I get her name right. She must also join you in this prospect of fast pace of development in Alimosho. It is so unfortunate that we are not getting any feedback from her in Alimosho at all. I repeat it, we are not hearing from our Senator in Alimosho at any rate. So, we want you to help us call on her; everything due to Alimosho from the Federal, either from the House of Reps or the Senate, we want to be getting it. It is not necessary to be pulling pressure on the council chairmen alone".
It appeared "not a surprise" that the monarch's admonition drew a resounding applause from the audience, a guest at the event observed to our correspondent. Accordingly, whether this should be interpreted as the fact from the minds of the people may be left to the jury. Efforts of this magazine to reach the Senator had not been fruitful as at this press time. This was even despite the prompting against any race to press to get the side of the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and member of the prestigious Lagos political elite -- the Governance Advisory Council (GAC).
