KSO GETS LETTER OF CONFIRMATION AS CIVICS COUNCIL CHAIRMAN OF THE YEAR, BARES ALL ABOUT COUNCIL ADMINISTRATION
The Civics Weekly magazine officially met with Executive Chairman of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Hon Kunle Sanyaolu Olowoopejo to deliver the official notification of his emergence as the Civics Weekly Council Chairman of the Year 2024. The letter of credence for the conferment and notification of July 22, 2025 as the 'Award Day' was done in the presence of eye witness that included the Executive Vice Chairman of Egbe-Idimu, Hon Mutiu Adebiyi, Hon Wale Azeez, a former Sole Administrator for Igando/Ikotun and currently the Senior Legislative Assistant to the Deputy President of the Senate.
It may be recalled that in a February Issue of Civics Weekly magazine, a formal publication of the 'Award Jury', announcing emergence of Hon Olowoopejo as the magazine's Man of the Year 2024 was published. Therein, and for the transparency of the process leading to his qualification for the honour, it was stated that his choice was premised on some parts of his governance feat, which aligned with this year's "Theme for the award: Governance Influenced by Real Politics".
The publication read: "In content therefore, the underpinning requirements of heroic performance influenced by a mix of local and national politics was readily established by the panelists. At end of the day, Hon Olowoopejo of Egbe-Idimu LCDA emerged with ennobling honour of Civics Weekly Council Chairman of the Year 2024. What we may even describe as the primary value derived from the visitation to the honoree was the no hold barred interactions we eventually had with him. In contents of all, issues like the philosophy that drives his governance style, the trouble that goes with council administrations, his balancing of politics with governance and a short delve into his private life. All these are what the public will be getting in a coming spotlight edition on the Man of the Year.
To many, it may not be known that good governance goes beyond the mere wielding of power. There are times when power is weakened by circumstances beyond emotion. When the award jury cited the politics behind the construction of Pipeline Road in Idimu area of Alimosho as a part of the material legacies evaluated for the choice of Egbe-Idimu Council Chairman, the interview revealed that it was only a little that was known about the trouble and politics that went into fixing of the road. "Governance is not a tea party", he said.
In vow, he said, pledging in open camera that he would not leave a kobo debt nor any abandoned project for his successor. Saying so, he enjoined the people of Egbe-Idimu LCDA to go all out and vote for Prince Idris Balogun for them to sustain the governance in continuity that has kept the Council on the projectile of development.
