DECLARATION OF "CONTiNUITY ON THE HORIZON' BY MUTIU EXCITES EGBE-IDIMU ELITES

It was excitement hours as the Egbe-Idimu LCDA elite gathered to witness the declaration of Honourable Mutiu Adeniyi Adebiyi to contest for the office of Executive Chairman of Egbe-Idimu LCDA in this forthcoming Local Government Elections in Lagos State. The serving Executive Vice Chairman of the Council launched his age long aspiration with the cliche: "Continuity on the Horizon.
The Director General of his Campaign Organization, Hon Wale Azeez, also clarified that the aspirant's declaration was long in coming because he was a real politician who understood what it meant to work within the ambits of the party's rules and instruction.
Fondly called 'Aso'bora' by his admirals across the party and open society, the aspirant told his galaxy of guests that he would be counting on his vast experience in local government administration to deliver on their expectations. He said his administration would not be one to first of all spend two years in learning the process. "I'm coming to hit the ground running", he said.
He went further: "We are talking of experience spanning over two decades across the legislative and executive arms of this Egbe-Idimu LCDA. I started as a Councilor before my elevation to serve as Leader of the House. Joining the Executive arm, I rose through the ranks of Supervisory Councilor, Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) and then to my current office as the Vice Chairman.
"What all this should tell us is that what I am bring forth in my administration is a 'New Chapter' where I intend to blend new ideas with the current Egbe-Idimu Developmental Blueprint being undertaken by my current boss, Hon Kunle Sanyaolu Olowoopejo -- our popular 'Aibu'. It has remained a surprise to the people of Egbe-Idimu that the benighted Pipeline Road in Idimu would become what it is today? That tells you our urbanisation plan, which I intend to continue among other strides we have achieved in every sector".
He also explained how his policies and programmes would be run jointly with the Egbe-Idimu residents, adding that his Mission Statement spoke directly to this.
He said: "The cause to bring my Mission Statement before this elders and elite body of Egbe-Idimu is to tell you that I have a creed to guide my administration,. It reveals that I want 'to bring a new chapter with a focus on human capital development for encompassing inclusive governance by the collective will of the entire residents'. This is to clarify that it will be the collective responsibility of everyone of us to move our geographical bounds to the next level".
Speaking to Civics Weekly on the sideline of the event, Hon Wale Azeez, the DG of Mutiu Adeniyi Adeniyi Campaign Organization (MAACO), explained that the aspirant was coming out now because this is the time his party, the All Progressives Congress {APC) has opened the stage for all aspirants to come out and sell themselves.
He said: "It is what we call self discipline in politics. A good politician who has a deep respect for his party must always work within the ambits of party's instruction and rules.Just only this morning that the coast was clear that we can now make our expression of interest known to the public.
"That is why we are here to engage the elite and elders of Egbe-Idimu as the important first line stakeholders. We see them as the pillars and cornerstones for our anticipated victory. We have gone round to engage them individually. Now is the time we have to bring them together to tell them in concrete term that we are now set for the field".
Some of the guests Civics Weekly spoke to expressed their excitement that someone they could trust has finally come out. "They call him Aso'bora'. I did not know what that one meant until he came to my rescue over my house that was marked for environmental contraventions. Then I realised he had covered my nakedness", Dr. Kolade, a resident in Agodo said.
