Toyosi Hakeeb THE crown Prince of Isheri Olofin Land in Alimosho Local Government, Prince Idris Balogun (aka Oluomo Kaafata) has joined the galaxy of eminent well-wishers across Nigeria to celebrate Her Excellency, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire (OFR) over her reappointment as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs). He described the appointment as another years of glory ahead for Nigeria in the countdown to the year 2030 when abundance of life for the citizens is to start flourishing according to United Nations’ set objectives. In the same vein, Oluomo, as he is fondly called by admirers, also rejoices with Mr. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe who was also inaugurated on Wednesday into the Executive Cabinet of the wise men and women set to drive the “T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda” for the “Greater Lagos Rising”. The former Aspirant to the House of Representatives for Alimosho Federal Constituency seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) said...

THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TODAY

By Toyo C. Ngem Nigerians have once been described as the happiest people in the world. But that was not meant to be exaltations of the people. It was the vindication of Fela Anikulapo’s lyrics – Suffer, suffer for world, Enjoy for Heaven – in his evergreen album entitled Suffering and Smiling in the 1980s. In context, Fela had satirically tried to describe ‘prayer’ as an ensnaring mechanism through which the masses have lost their souls to man’s hypocrisy in anticipation of heavenly paradise as the reward. So, when the purported “Happiest People in the world” would later come as a research outcome, it was just too difficult to place it appropriately in real axiomatic expression. Many believe it was deceptive in its entirety because the smiles on the faces of the people were never a reflection of their minds; that they only wear the smiles to cover the agonies ravaging their inner minds. Yet it is also true that a thousand and one Nigerians are truly happy in context of its entire...

THE AVERTED FAMINE IN ALIMOSHO: THANKS TO JOKE ORELOPE, OBASA

By Razaq Adedeji Jimoh It is the thinking of generality of the people that Alimosho has never had the fair share of her due in sharing the victory cake of the progressives at every cycle of the general election in Lagos. I refer to party faithful and the collective people of the Federal Constituency generally being marginalised in terms of reaping the fruit of their labour and the public service value respectfully. Just a couple of weeks past, the “Renewed Hope” of the people was dashed amidst a “Greater Lagos Rising”. It was from no other person than His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, when it turned out that Alimosho was to get only one commissioner slot in his second term of office. Sequel to that, it was a cross-caucuses' appealing personality – Barrister Rotimi Ogunwuyi – that landed the slot. Cross-appealing because of the common sense of justice that gave him the rousing right of first refusal, having been earlier officially robbed of his hard earned victory as t...
